My top 11 drug store beauty loves

beauty tips up my sleeve

Do you ever talk to people who only wear high end makeup and rave about it and how much they hate drug store cause it’s so poor in quality? All the while, you’re wearing your drug store lip gloss that you feel just fabulous in and put more wear into than that high end one collecting a little dust? Yeah? Me too!! Haha.. No, seriously just 3 years ago, I really believed that drug store makeup had to be poor in quality since it was so much cheaper than high end. But, having tried a lot of drug store makeup, buying a lot more than I should have, (clearly a dangerous hobby to have) I’m here to tell you I have actually come to a point where I grab some of my drug store makeup before even the more expensive ones. True story guys!

So here are my 11 (I thought I was doing 10 but couldn’t keep one thing out) drugstore makeup loves.

First, lets do the lips. Much like my home decor, I’m more of a neutral lip girl who you’ll generally not find wearing opaque loud colors except on special occasions. So my every day lip has to be the Maybelline Babylips in Peppermint and Dr. Rescue Too Cool. I have sensitive lips when it comes to chap sticks and all that stuff. Before these, I was only able to use the Lip Conditioners from MAC that was a bit pricey. Don’t get me wrong, I still love this product, I just don’t use them as often since these do the same job. When I do wear opaque lippies that are neutral, so so sorry for not adding it in the picture but I really do love these, my go to is the NYX Matte Lipsticks. Oh, they are so awesome and so not drying at all! Love those. But, for a more vibrant color, though not used often cause I’m a stay at home wife after all who’s a neutral lover, I would totally vouch for these MAybelline Colorsensational Vivids. They are so opaque, not drying and have some beautiful color choices. My favorite probably has to be their Hot Plum. Then there’s the NYX Lip Liner Pencils. I’m telling you, they are just as awesome as high end lip liners. I own 50 of these. Joking… But I love them enough to own them all.

Next, we have my favorite face makeup. Now you gotta note, I have normal to dry skin so these are geared more for someone with that skin type. I generally am a day to day tinted moisturzer kind of girl. But, I actually haven’t found a drug store one I love. If you have any recommendations, I’d love to get some ideas. So, what drug store foundation I do enjoy would have to be Loreal True Match Lumi. It really is a beautiful formula. As for the concealer, I love these Maybelline Fit Me concealers. They are best used as under eye concealer due to its creaminess. But, I seriously have a crush on these cause they are so awesome and reminds me of the Nars creamy concealer and the Mac Prolongwear concealers. But, dare I say I love these a little more. YES!

IMG_6726     What’s next.. Oh, yes 2 of 3 things I use every single time I step out the house. The eye area. So, eyebrows. Mine are a little sparse in some areas and need a good eyebrow pencil to fake the funk. My go to, even over my Anastasia Brow Wiz (which I have to say is also quite awesome), is my Maybelline Define-A-Brow pencil. Oh how I love it so. There is a little comb at the end, that I pretty much pull off to let me know its now being used. Yup, there are always multiple of these in my drawer. The next things are the mascaras. Right now I am currently using Maybelline Pumped Up Colossal in waterproof and I really do love it. But I have my favorites and they change, but it seems to stay between these 4: the one just mentioned, Loreal Voluminous Miss Manga water proof, Maybelline One-By-One waterproof, and my old faithful Loreal Voluminous Original. Lastly, the eyeliner I use, specifically to blend my falsies to my liner, would be the NYC Liquid Eyeliner. It’s also an oldie but a goodie! I’m totally beating myself up for not adding this in the picture but I will be even more upset with myself if I don’t add my all time favorite gel liner. It’s the Maybelline Eye Studio gel liner in Blackest Black. I promise this is worth the mention. It’s even better than high end paint pots. Trust.

IMG_6732     So here we are at the home stretch. Hope you’re enjoying my clearly evident love for makeup. But tools are just as important and 3 years ago you would never see me even thinking it was even possible to buy a good tool at the drug store. Well, with the exception of a mascara curler. I love this specific Revlon eyelash curler. I don’t know what it is, but it better than any other one I’ve tried so far. And, I know Real Techniques brushes is no secret to most. These are amazeballs! They are so well made, soft to the touch and have the perfect density. But, a true show stopper would have to be these Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponges. They are truly comparable to the Beauty Blender, although I do prefer this shape a little more.

There you have it, my top 11 drug store faves. Okay maybe a few more than 11 but who’s counting. Hope this helps those of you looking to try some new products! If there are any you who also enjoy these products, please do share. And, if there are other products you do love more than your high ends, please let me know about it! So I can have a reason to hit the makeup aisle next time I’m at the drug store! Thanks guys! Catch you in my next post! Wink.

I’m kind of make-up illiterate so please don’t laugh when I ask what does that complexion sponge do?

girl thats ok. its like a normal sponge that people use to apply liquids and creams like foundations, concealers and even cream blush. I think its just a matter of preference. hope this helps!
