A playful Valentine’s Day breakfast nook

blog hop, home sweet home, tablescape

Who hardly, if ever. decorates for Valentines Day?? I have to admit, I am definitely in the group that raised their hand. Maybe, because Christmas just passed, it can feel overwhelming to think about decorating AGAIN?! But that’s why this year, I am joining an awesome group of blogger friends to help give you some cute and fun ideas and inspiration for Valentines Day-ing it at home this year. Thanks so much to Kelly from The Greenspring Home for hosting this blog hop! If you just came from The Posh Home, welcome! So glad you’re here! I know you already came inspired so here’s to hoping you leave more inspired to take on Valentine’s Day this year with fun and ease!

So as I said, I want this to be easy, fun and not overwhelming to do and there’s no better space to make Valentine’s Day ready, than the space we’re in the most which would definitely be our breakfast nook.

I went with traditional red and pinks in here with a touch of whimsy. I think the pom poms (which I borrowed from my daughter’s room) gave the space the fun factor with the punch of fun colors. The neutral fabric ball garland is something that moves around our house year round and was a perfect layering to dress our window.

For the plate setting, I thought it would be fun to add little sayings tailored for each of my babes, this table was for them after all and trust me they enjoyed all the treats on here as soon as I was done shooting the space. I used mini cheese boards we already had and just layered 2 torn pieces of construction paper from the kids stash, taped it together on the back and used a sharpie to write silly things. They thought it was fun and I got some giggles out of them so mission accomplished. Super cute, fun and all on hand! Win, win!

One thing I was super excited to add to our breakfast table lately were these cute salt and pepper shakers. I found them here and even though we recently got some new shakers, I thought it wouldn’t hurt to have another set.

But the thing I’m most excited about in our breakfast nook has got to be our new cushion we got from Patio Lane last week. We got a few swatches mailed to test out what worked best, but ultimately went with Sunbrella in the color Canvas Granite. It’s the perfect neutral gray! I think it goes well with our brass Garden City wall light fixtures from Hudson Valley Lighting. Gold and gray just pairs well! Anyway, I love that it’s so much more comfy to sit here and the material is stain resistant, perfect for our busy nook! They customize cushions and it was super easy to get the perfect size. To top it all off, the customer service was awesome. If you’re in the market, they’re giving my readers $50 off a $500+ purchase at Patio Lane with code ALMAFIED. The coupon code is good until 4/15/18.

Pulled the table out so you could see how beautiful this cushion is! This bench has quickly become more than just a place to eat!

The only other new items we got for Valentine’s day were the straws, 2 tea towels, the wooden heart cheese board and the little mini banner all found at the Target dollar spot.

All that was left to do was lay some treats on the table that the kids would enjoy and I knew that would make the day memorable and the time together sweet! Of course there’s still another week til Valentine’s Day which really got them excited when they learned that we will be doing this all over again next week. Trust me, everyone was all smiles!

Hope you got a few ideas for Valentine’s Day this year!! Keep it fun and simple and look around to see what you have on hand before hitting up the stores. Chances are you already have what you need right at home!

Next up on this tour is my friend Joan over at 2 Ladies & A Chair. I love her style and know you will too! Here are all the other ladies on this tour. They are all super talented so be sure to check them out!

Playful indeed! The little handwritten sayings at each place setting is a cute idea. I love that you incorporated a lot of what you already had and then scored everything else in the dollar spot at Target! Your new cushion looks great, by the way!
