One Room Challenge: Breakfast Nook (week 5)

home sweet home

You guys, we are at week 5! I can’t believe how fast these weeks have gone by! Between juggling a husband being home on vacation (who is now at a new job), homeschooling 3 kids, nursing a 6 month old and working on a few other projects while this was going on has proven itself challenging. And probably explains the cold and sore throat I had (I never get sick) and the sleepless nights! But it will all be worth it when we get this done. I am so excited to say we have one more week left after today and I’m hopeful this will be the smoothest week also! Here’s a recap if you’re just joining us:

Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Week 4

So this week we got a lot done! Our wall sconces came in and my husband was able to wire and install them. They were a tad bigger than I imagined but are actually better for the space.

Our bistro chairs came in yesterday and they totally are perfect for the space! They are Safavieh chairs found here and the best part is when my kids spill, they can simply be wiped down. Oh and they were super affordable.

Today, we finally got around to painting our table that we got on Craigslist when we moved here. We have always planned on refinishing the table but ultimately decided to just go with chalk paint. I was going back and forth between white and grey but decided the light grey would be a nice subtle contrast to our white kitchen.

Finally we hung our wall gallery with our Maren Devine Art and seriously these really make the space! It really is the perfect view when having my coffee. I am so excited about these. Check more of her art here.

I also hung this Frieda Art print which is actually a card Maren also sent with the art and I just could not bear to not frame it. It’s so pretty!

Did you notice our missing shades?? Well, I didn’t even realize that our shades weren’t cordless like we ordered and The Shade Store was kind enough to send me shipping boxes so I can send it back to them to correct. Seriously, they have been such an awesome company to work with and have great customer service.

So our only set back this week is that we have to fix our shades but that will be fixed and it’ll be all good!

Other than that, we just have to seal our dining table and we can move on to decorating the space for week 6! Sooo excited for that! Also just waiting for another rug that will hopefully work well with layering on top of the rug we shared here last week. Below is a picture of the rug we chose and you can find here.

Thank you so much for being here and for all the encouragement to get this project done! I truly appreciate each visitor, each comment and like on here, FB and IG! It really does help encourage me to keep pressing on through these crazy projects and ideas I have.

See you next week for the finished and big reveal to our breakfast nook. Be sure to check out the other awesome projects going on this week at Calling It Home.

Lastly, a big thank you to my sponsors who helped make this One Room Challenge possible:

Thank you Cassie!! I love how soft it is in here too! I think it’s a fun contrast to our living room which is a little more bold and a tad masculine!
