Our new dining room set for Fall

home sweet home

Who else loves all things fall?! I love everything about fall with the exception of it also meaning it’s the end of summer break for the kids. Which means back to waking up to an alarm clock. YAY! Haha.

The cool thing though is I get to get back to fun things like drinking chai lattes (yep I would choose it any day over PSL) and creating spaces that gets my creative juices flowing again. The first thing I got to do when the kids went back to school was finally switch this space that was previously a little family room/ breakfast nook and make it a devoted dining room.

Today, I’m joining some friends and sharing a simple transition into fall right here in the dining room ready for a fall soiree with family and friends! A special thank you to Bre over at Rooms For Rent blog for putting this together!

You can shop this post at the bottom of this post. Sponsored links are in this post, but as always, all opinions are my own.

here's a look at the changes this room has been through in the 11 months we've lived here.

When we first moved in, this was a dedicated family room with 2 big windows and 2 small windows. To the left of the fireplace were these 2 odd inset wall cut outs. Cute, but not really practical.

We made big changes to the kitchen on the other side of this space (which we shared the progress on here) and opened up one of the windows in here into french doors. We also opened up the wall to the right with interior french doors and made what used to be my office into a den where it’s now a devoted lounging tv room.

This room was used as the breakfast nook with a sofa that sits in front of the fireplace. It was always awkward to me having a couch here when there was a couch just a few feet away in the den.

So finally after much hesitation, Jason came around and was open to the idea of trying the dining table in here. We’re giving ourselves a month to really decide before committing, but so far, we are all really loving it.

And what we all gathered here for today: the fall table and how to get it fall soiree ready!

For sure, we gotta get comfortable seating. This new space has a little more elbow room and the dining chairs are comfy and yet still easy to clean. For every day use, I do put seat cushions which I think makes the wood chairs a lot more comfy.

Probably the most easiest and affordable way to dress up a table is with a table cloth. Yeah, it will definitely get dirty, but it’s cloth and can be thrown in the washer right after.

My favorite way which is also another easy way to dress up a table and perfect for any soiree is with candles. I have candle sticks and a few fall scented Agape candles. I would definitely keep the candlesticks lit through dinner, but personally don’t prefer scented candles while i’m eating. But if you’re like me, you can just light them up right when everyone’s done. These fall scents are amazing and I just got my hands on this years new fall scents and they are equally amazing!

I feel like cloth napkins and brass silverware is going the extra mile because it’s totally not necessary but it does feel fancy and a little more special!

I’m a sucker for greenery, my house has pops of it everywhere and magnolia leaves just scream fall to me. The brown and green just feels so warm and earthy and paired with this pretty vase makes the perfect centerpiece. We have 2 big trees outside so don’t be surprised if every room is styled with a little magnolia this fall.

Simple, serene and wonderfully autumn. The way you have changed this room in the short that time you’ve lived in your home is creative brilliance! Don’t change a thing…at least, for now.
