A well layered neutral fall front porch with a pop of rust + night views on the porch

home sweet home

Happy fall friends! It’s the second week of fall and while it’s still hot and very much summer weather over here in California, I couldn’t help but style it up for fall on our front porch today! I’m joining a group of amazing ladies who are also sharing their fall porches to provide you with some fall inspiration today. Thanks to my friend Rachel over at Shades of Blue Interiors for putting this fall blog hop together!

I love a well layered space, and especially in the fall, layers create that cozy feel I think we are all drawn to this time of year.

As always, you can find all links to shop today’s post at the bottom of the page.

I used a few key pieces that pretty much stays on the porch all year round, and added a few pieces that I thought would be perfect for fall. Some items I already had on hand and used other places of the home, and just a few things purchased.

Some key pieces I love for a front porch are a bench/chair to sit if space allows it, a door mat, a wreath, a pretty light fixture, and plants! You will pretty much see these items on my front porch all year long. This bench, light fixture and wreath are perfect year round. I love how the light fixture, the welcome home sign, and the bench grounds the space with the black.

I always always have plants here because it gives life to any space, front porch included!

Some items I added in here for fall

To jazz it up for fall in here, I shopped the home, things I already had on hand as well as a few items recently purchased for fall. The rust colored pillow was a great find and a color I think is so perfect for fall and will transition well into winter time and pairs well with this more neutral pillow and gorgeous plaid throw. I also purchased eucalyptus stems in the wall basket to pull more of that deep rust color.

We usually have lanterns out here because I think they look awesome lit or even unlit during the day. I have a few sets I switch between but love the pop of brass. These stools are so versatile, perfect for adding height and can be used all over the house!

I added some faux and real pumpkins, along with some birch logs and kept some of it together in this cute metal basket. Recreate this look with a basket you already have on hand, and throw in some pumpkins and wood, and voila!

The 2 pumpkins by the door are the only 2 real ones I purchased for a few reasons. I loved the color, it really pairs well with my terra-cotta pot that holds the rubber plant, and I only got 2 real pumpkins cause I have no idea how long it will last with this heat.

Popped in a few extra details for styling purposes like the tea pot/mugs, along with the slip on mules. But in my defense, Jason and I have spent many mornings right here drinking our coffee in these mugs as we schemed on what we were going to do with the exterior. πŸ˜‰

I did create an alternative to a wreath for your front door. Wall baskets with a pretty arrangement to fit the season is another great way to style your front door. I did share a hack if you want to keep your florals in water, and still keep it safe to swing the door open and close here on Instagram.

Wall basket round up, perfect for the front door

And just for kicks, and because we were outside while the kids rode their bikes anyway, I thought a night view would also be fun to share. There’s nothing like the warm cozy glow candles give. These are burning candles but I also like to use led candles on my porch which give the same feel.

That copper candle from Agape Candles in the scent Pumpkin Chai smells so beautiful.
