Full Reveal: Our new tv room

room tour, Styling

Happy first official full week of summer! We’ve been on summer break now for 3 weeks and time is just flying. We had Jason’s parents here from Hawaii visiting for a week. Then in 2 weeks, my brother and his family will be visiting from Hawaii for 2 weeks. Right after that, Jason and I will be celebrating 10 years of marriage. This is a pretty big summer for us and I am so excited to also finally share a full reveal of the space! You will probably catch us here most evenings together cozying up on the couch and watching a good movie or playing a board game with the kids.

You can check out the DIY shiplapped tv wall reveal here. Per your request, I updated it with measurements of the built-ins along with the overall measurement of this room.

Aside from the busyness of summer, I was able to finally photograph our tv room which Jason loves to call the theatre. I call that doing too much. HA! Hope this 15′ X 12′ room that once was a bedroom we used as an office can give you some ideas for a small space in your home.

We debated on opening this wall up with no separation, but decided to go with these french doors for 2 reasons: If we ever need to sell this house, we knew this room would still need doors to pass for a bedroom. And also, so we can close the doors to cut the noise when the kids are watching or playing games.

Here’s a span of the room :

The shiplapped tv wall gives this space an element of farmhouse I love, with the light wood shelves that feels more modern and coastal.

I considered putting a gallery wall here but decided to keep it simple with a juju hat since it was right next to the shiplapped tv wall that really is the feature wall in here and didn’t want to take away from that. Instead, this view is all about what’s above and below the wall. I added these layered rugs to add a little touch of boho and brought this pretty chandelier from the guest house to give this room some depth.

Then there’s the window wall. I kept the brass curtain rods we’ve used all through out the house. They are so affordable and adds a touch of chic. I used 4 curtain panels to give this small window some weight to trick the eye and make this small window look a little more substantial.  I styled around it with some things that gives it a more coastal vibe which is another element I love adding into our home.

In the middle of all this is our pretty new coffee table from Eclectic Goods. This table is white oak, made to order and the awesome thing is you can customize it to fit your space. I chose a 38″ diameter and chose a 16″ height which is perfect for pulling up these cute ottomans to play boards games with the kids. This coffee table style is so versatile, and can fit in with pretty much anyone’s style: modern, scandinavian, farmhouse, coastal, eclectic, rustic, you name it. It’s definitely a coffee table I don’t see ever going out of style with the beautifully clean and simple design. My kids are going to have to fight for it when they’re older cause this baby is made to last and will be passed down for sure!

Bougainvillea clippings from the yard adds the perfect amount of color to this neutral space and gives this room the feeling of summer. That new dracaena cane warneckii plant wasn’t meant for this corner but hoping the indirect sunlight will be good for it. This little duo makes my summer loving heart smile! Who else is a lover of all things summer?

Coffee table styling is an art that everyone can do. 3 things I love to style with on mine are books, candles and plants. I also like to create moods and wanted this table to feel relaxing like the color palette of this room so I stuck with neutral colors. These new ceramic candles from Agape Candles give this organic and fresh feeling that’s perfect for what I was going for in here.

Then there are the pillows I chose for this room. Y’all know pillows are my weakness (among other things) and keeping the pillow count at 9 took major self control. Haha! Again, I wanted a calming and soothing palette in here, and knew these pillows were the perfect mix. Sticking with the greys, creams and beige color family was an easy choice. The texture of the grey pillows, mixed in with the stripes, and one turkish rug pillow for a pop of fun made it a great combination.

For me, styling a small space is all about choosing pretty moments, giving the eyes the ability to take in the beauty, notice and appreciate it. The largest wall is very minimal for that reason, it gives the eye time to rest. Sometimes the easiest way to accomplish this is to step back, and consider what you can take away from the space. When it just doesn’t feel right, edit.. edit.. edit.. I say!

Thanks for all of you who were so patient for me to get this post up; it means so much to me that you would share in the excitement of this reveal! But I also hope you leave this with some inspiration for your space! If you have any questions, thoughts, please share down below!
