Family room update + tips on creating a cozy space you’ll never want to leave

home sweet home, product love, room tour, Styling

It’s a new year and I wanted to share our family room update with you. I shared before that our previous sectional was a little too large for this smaller space. So we moved it out to our larger living space and I think we found a great one that’s perfect for small spaces like our family room! I’m also sharing some tips today on cozying up your spaces!

Here’s our living room before we made some changes.

We knew we still wanted to have a sectional in here, but was on the hunt for a sectional that had a smaller profile and maybe even modular. I was so excited when we had the opportunity to partner with The Futon Shop to try out this 5 piece modular sectional sofa (ours is in the color white cotton) which is so perfect for small spaces like ours!

Here’s what I love about this modular sectional sofa:

You can totally customize the layout which is really ideal for the person who loves changing their spaces around every so often like me! My excuse is it’s my cardio and hobby 😉 But it’s also ideal for those spaces that need flexibility, the small spaces, but also work great for larger spaces as well!

I really appreciate their companies commitment to emphasis on craftmanship, high quality and non toxic sofas!

And this is a big one for me, their great customer service! I needed help with an issue I was having with the brackets that connect the furniture together, and they helped me right away and were so professional!

I’ve only had our sectional for a few weeks now, so I can’t really speak on longevity, but I can say so far, we are really enjoying this modular sectional and can definitely share a follow up when we’ve spent more time with it.

How to create a cozy space you’ll never want to leave

  • Choose seating that encourages relaxation. I love a good sectional because it’s casual, it’s cozy, comfortable and gives room for napping!
  • Have throw blankets readily available! I have different weighted blankets in our family room because no matter the season, I need a blanket when I’m looking to get cozy.
  • The more pilllows the better in my book! Pillows make a room feel cozy, and obviously raises the cozy bar!
  • Harsh lighting in the evenings aren’t very welcoming. Have dimmable lighting that you can turn on in the evenings to add that extra warm cozy vibe.
  • A soft rug is a bonus for me! I am picky about plush rugs, because sometimes they shed, especially when it’s wool. But when you find a good one that doesn’t shed (or at least stops shedding after a few vacuum sessions), and is soft on your feet, it’s a keeper! Here’s a few cozy ones we love:

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you’ve had a great start to the new year! Looking forward to sharing more with you this year that might help you in your quest to making your houses a home, make your spaces a place you enjoy dwelling, and enjoy the process!

Family room update + tips on creating a cozy space you’ll love from on Pinterest!
When I first moved into my current house, I found myself longing for ‘the office’ and wanting a place to escape from all the noise and chaos that was outside of our home. Not being able to furnish and decorate our new home in this way was not ideal, but my husband had more artistic/creative ability than I had as an interior designer and so he began this process himself. He spent weeks going through paint swatch after paint swatch trying different wall colors, fabrics and wallpaper schemes in order to achieve the look we were looking for that did not require us spending hours each day picking things up from thrift stores or online (all my friends have this down-to-earth friend who will bring over clothes to you just because they LOVE them!). In turn, this was where the idea to create the beautiful family room for us that looks like home came about- one room without busy clutter!
So here are a few quick tips I learned from making a cozy space with minimal “noise” and lots of fun design solutions. They can provide a ton of helpful ideas for anyone and everyone when it comes to designing a comfortable/cudd…

I love colors similar to clay or pastel colors. The right color walls, to me, are everything. Thanks for sharing the tips; this blog is really informative.
