Living room update: Our new Bemz covers and arched cabinet

home sweet home

There’s a few more things to check off our list, but I’m ready to slow down for Christmas, anyone else? I can’t believe we are less than 2 weeks away from Christmas!

If you are following along on Instagram, I shared how we swapped sofas and brought our sectional from the family room into this space. We will be hosting our families annual Christmas party here, so it was a good time to move the sectional in here for more seating. Furniture rearranging is my favorite kind of cardio;)

Before I go into more details on the update, here’s a few Christmas updates with our fam:

Last week the kids made gingerbread houses and decorated the Christmas tree. If you’re looking for a daily advent still, my sister shared a daily reading advent with me by John Piper called Good News of Great Joy. Here’s the PDF to start on it today if you’re interested. This week we will be decorating cookies together and if the rain calms down we want to go grab hot cocoa and go neighborhood lights looking. The kids go on break after this week so we will also be having a family sleepover down stairs together which the kids always love!

Speaking of the kids, they will be singing in the Children’s Christmas Choir this Sunday at our local church, and they are so excited for that also! I love these services because it’s always filled with joy, and reminds me of the hope that is found in Christ Jesus alone.

“For today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

Luke 2:11

And to think, if Jesus, the Son of God had not come, become a man, and eventually die to save sinners like you and I, all hope would be lost! But no, He did come, He did die the death we deserved, and He did rise on the third day and defeated death, that through Him, to the one who turn from their sins, call on Jesus to save you from the guilt and punishment we all deserve, and place your trust on Jesus alone, as your King and Rescuer of your life, you will be saved. This is why we celebrate Christmas!

“All who call on the name of the Lord will be saved”

Romans 10:13

With that said, I look forward to gathering with our loved ones, and celebrating together this special time of year! Here’s a closer look at our little living room update.

I shared our new cabinet on Instagram and it was pretty clear everyone loves it as much as I do! I was on the lookout for an arched cabinet that I could keep for years to come. I saw this one over a year ago and since then haven’t found another cabinet that compared. It’s a versatile cabinet that can be used in a dining space, living room, bedroom and I even saw it used as a linen cabinet in a bathroom which I thought was super cute!

With Christmas on the way, and hosting our annual family Christmas party here, I thought it would be fun to do a little furniture rearranging. I brought this sectional in from our family room and love how it adds more comfy seating without taking up more space. We love our Ikea sectional but the cover was in need of being replaced, so we recovered it with Bemz covers. This fabric is called Brera Lino by Designers Guild in the color Natural. I love how their covers totally transform sofas!

This wall over the sofa needed something, so I went through my frame and art stash and quickly created a little gallery wall. I wasn’t precise on where I placed the frames. I just gave them about an inch and a half spacing, eyeballed it, and called it a day.

We also recovered an old Ikea ottoman with a Bemz cover and my whole family thought it was a new piece of furniture. I went with a different fit in the fabric Brera Lino by Designers Guild in the color espresso, and added these new legs, and wow, no one knew it was the same ottoman we’ve had for years.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you all have a great time counting down the days til Christmas!
