The girls simple bedroom DIY closet organizer

project diy

Hey you guys, I’m so excited to share the girls new bedroom update! But while we wait, here’s a look at their updated closets! The old situation just wasn’t working for the girls and we wanted to make better use of the space.

We had a pair of dressers from Ikea and decided to build a closet organizer for the the girls bedroom and the boys bedroom around it. The boys closet’s a little different and I’ll take pictures of theirs next week and share that, but for now here’s what the girls closet was like before we got to work.

We took the doors out pretty much when we moved in, just put new flooring in last month, and finally built the closet organizer ready to share with you. Here’s where were at today.

This is the dresser we used from Ikea called Tarva.:

We centered the dresser and originally painted them grey but painted them the same color as the walls, Behr Polar Bear, which is a bright soft white color.

We also cut down the legs and raised it up with 2x4s to match the height of the base boards and make it look more built in. The knobs and cup pulls were from Home Depot and originally silver, and I spray painted them with this gold spray paint:

Jason used mdf for the walls and shelves and painted everything the same Polar Bear paint to match the walls. All in all we spent about $200 for this project since we already had the dresser.

What’s next for this space?

We eventually want to add bifold doors, maybe DIY it, maybe not, haha. In reality, this closet won’t always stay this nice and organized, so we will need doors to keep things pretty in here 😉 But for now, we are so happy with how this project turned out!

You can see a peak here of the girls bedroom! I can’t wait to show their updated space with you! The girls love it so much!

I like the idea to have bifold doors for a closet. My home is a mess, and I think a closet organizer would help me keep my home clean. I’ll look for a way to set up a closet organizer with bifold doors.

    Hi,

I’m a writer with The Spruce and I’m writing a roundup of DIY closet ideas. May I use a photo from your blog with credit and a link back?

    Thanks!
